Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day
Ah, Valentine's Day.  The last party of the year.  The children go crazy over little paper valentines.  There is candy everywhere.  Love is in the air. But, we do try to get some education in there, too.
We used candy hearts for many things: counting, catagorizing, graphing, addition.
Grandma Charlotte helps the children with the hearts.  We picked our favorite sayings, put the words in ABC order, and created sentences of our own.
Grandpa Jack pitches in too.
Some students show the graphs they completed.
Many of us participated in the PTA carnation sale.
The students show off their Valentine mailboxes.
After we opened our valentines we sorted and catorgized them.  We read about how valentines were made.
Valentine's Day books we could read:
Clifford's Valentines - Norman Bridwell
Arthur's Valentine - Marc Brown
Roses Are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink - Diane de Groat
A Book of Kisses - Dave Ross

Winnie the Pooh's Valentine - Bruce Talkington
